Case IH 730C Disk Ripper - Controlled Rural-Road Tow
2025 case study: a 2004 Case IH 730C disk ripper towed about 250 miles on its own running gear, then dismantled and containerized via New York to Istanbul.
The dealer legally purchased the 2004 Case IH 730C from a local Minnesota seller. At approximately 18 ft wide and 6.5 metric tons, the machine required a slow, carefully selected route rather than normal highway transport. Meridian towed the ripper approximately 250 miles on its own running gear using a company GMC truck. Speed was generally limited to about 30-35 mph, and replacement highway tires traveled with the driver so a damaged tire could be changed without leaving the implement stranded. A lowboy alternative was estimated to cost approximately $2,000 more. After arrival, Meridian immediately dismantled the ripper and packed it into a container for transportation through New York to Istanbul. Responsibility ended in Istanbul. Final assembly was not monitored, but no complaint was reported to Meridian.
