How do you handle DAFF biosecurity and stink bug (BMSB)?

Every machine is cleaned of soil, seeds and plant material and inspected against the DAFF cleanliness standard before it ships. For sailings from 1 September to 30 April, US-origin machinery is treated for brown marmorated stink bug offshore by an approved provider, so it isn't refused at the wharf. Origin cleaning and treatment is exactly what we do.

Is there import duty on used machinery into Australia?

Agricultural tractors and self-propelled earthmoving machines (excavators, dozers, loaders) are generally free of import duty, with 10% GST payable on the landed value and creditable for GST-registered businesses. Your licensed Australian broker confirms the tariff line for your specific unit per shipment.

What about asbestos in older machines?

Australia enforces a total asbestos ban on presence, not risk, so pre-2003 machines (gaskets, brake and clutch components) are the known exposure. We screen candidate units at origin before purchase rather than gamble on a border seizure.
