Land Leveler and Topcon Grade Control - Dealer-Site Container Loading

In 2019 Meridian located and purchased an approximately 13-metric-ton land leveler for a private rice farm and negotiated with the selling dealer to dismantle and load it at the dealer's premises. A compatible used controller was packed in the same container, which traveled from Memphis through Savannah to Novorossiysk in approximately 35-40 days.

The shipment

Meridian located and purchased the approximately 13-metric-ton land leveler for a private rice farm. Moving the complete machine from the Arkansas dealer to Meridian's facility for disassembly would have added approximately $3,000-$4,000 in inland transportation. Meridian instead negotiated with the selling dealer to dismantle and load the equipment at its own premises. An empty container was positioned from Memphis at the dealer's loading area, and the dealer followed Meridian's loading instructions before the sealed container returned to the Memphis terminal. The shipment included valuable Topcon precision-leveling equipment. Meridian also located a compatible used controller, arranged for the seller to test it and provide operating video, and packed it in the same container. The controller connected to the Topcon antenna and allowed the land-leveling system to be adjusted from the tractor cab. The container traveled from Memphis through Savannah to Novorossiysk in approximately 35-40 days. The dealer-site plan saved about $4,000 in inland cost. No delay, damage or route change was reported, and Meridian's responsibility ended at the Port of Novorossiysk. The customer subsequently commissioned the equipment and continued to operate it.
