Used heavy equipment from the USA · Ghana
With used heavy equipment to Ghana, the weight and dimensions decide everything: an excavator, loader or dozer ships on a flat rack, by RoRo, or in-container depending on its real size, and getting that load format right is what keeps the freight cost honest. Meridian works from the actual measurements. We are not an equipment dealership and we don't hold stock in Ghana; we are an origin-to-door importer that sources used heavy equipment across the US dealer and auction network, inspects the actual machine at origin before you pay, books the ocean freight to Tema, and clears your Ghana customs through a licensed broker. If you're a Ghanaian buyer who wants a US machine landed and cleared — not a local reseller looking for stock — this is built for you. Two things set us apart: we clear your customs (we don't just drop the machine at the port), and we inspect the used machine at origin so you're not buying a photo. A licensed Ghana customs broker confirms the exact duty line and used-age admissibility for your specific machine before you commit.
Meridian sources, inspects, ships and coordinates clearance; the exact duty line, used-age admissibility and any GSA conformity outcome are confirmed by your licensed Ghana customs broker per shipment.

Process
For heavy equipment the real dimensions decide the load format. First we confirm the machine and inspect it at origin; then we lock oversize handling, freight and the Ghana clearance path. Duty and admissibility are broker-confirmed before you commit funds.
Share the listing or the make, model, year, hours, weight and dimensions of the used machine, and its US location. We source from real US dealer and auction channels, not a fixed catalogue.
Before you pay, we inspect the actual machine at origin — condition, hours, undercarriage and completeness — so you're buying a verified unit, not a photo. We also confirm it's clean for phytosanitary and inspection rules.
We handle export documentation and book the ocean freight to Tema, choosing flat rack, RoRo or in-container based on the real weight and dimensions of the machine.
A licensed Ghana customs broker files the entry with the GRA, confirms the duty line and used-age admissibility for your machine, and clears it. We don't just leave the machine at the port.
Scope
We separate the international leg we control from the local costs and formalities your customs broker confirms.
Quote
With the real weight, dimensions and machine details we can source, inspect and price the international leg to Tema without guessing on the load format. The final duty line is confirmed by a Ghana broker for your specific unit.
Share the machine and the destination; we send back the scope of the international leg in writing.
Local compliance
Meridian sources, inspects and ships the machine and coordinates clearance, but the exact figures are confirmed in Ghana per shipment. A licensed Ghana customs broker confirms the exact duty line and the used-age admissibility for your specific machine against the current Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) tariff before you commit funds. Some machinery categories can attract reduced or zero-rated import duty in Ghana, but that is a verify-before-quoting item for each machine — not a promise — and VAT, NHIL/GETFund levies and other charges may still apply. Used machinery may also require conformity assessment under the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) import inspection programme. We never quote a final landed cost until your broker confirms these lines for your unit.
Meridian has coordinated more than 1,000 exports to more than 40 countries.
