Moving the combine intact to Houston was estimated at about $20,000 because of its width, weight and permit requirements. Competing end-to-end logistics proposals were reported to be nearly $10,000 higher than Meridian's selected approach. Meridian scheduled a mechanical crew to remove the tracks and place them on the same trailer behind the combine. The mechanical work cost several thousand dollars, but the redesigned configuration reduced the inland trucking charge to approximately $7,000. Alexey inspected the machine at the dealership and coordinated the mechanical work and loading. The combine reached Houston on schedule, was prepared for Flat Rack export and shipped to San Antonio, Chile.
