Wil-Rich X5 Cultivator - Engineered Cuts for Container Export
2025 case study: a 6-metric-ton Wil-Rich X5 cultivator dismantled with four engineered cuts and shipped by container via Chicago and New York to Gdansk.
It shows employees Roberto and Ricardo dismantling one of the largest and heaviest cultivators produced in the Wil-Rich X5 line, supported by a CAT TL943 telehandler and a Toyota forklift. Meridian legally purchased the cultivator at Pocahontas Machinery Auction in Pocahontas, Iowa, with the client's participation. A standard intact shipment was not commercially practical. The frame was too large for a conventional container, while Flat Rack or Ro-Ro alternatives did not provide an efficient solution for this project. Meridian coordinated the dismantling plan with the client's technical team and completed four specifically selected engineering cuts. The cuts were limited to agreed locations so the machine could be restored after delivery. Two employees spent two full days on disassembly, followed by several additional hours for container loading. The approximately 6-metric-ton cultivator moved through Chicago and New York to Gdansk. Meridian's responsibility ended at Gdansk, after which the dealer arranged transportation into Ukraine. The machine was reassembled and returned to operating condition.
