MacDon M155 - Intact-Container Rail and Ferry Route to Kazakhstan

Meridian purchased the MacDon M155 from a Canadian dealer in the Saskatoon area and arranged truck delivery to the packing facility. A Meridian-appointed customs agent completed the Canada-US border formalities. The machine was dismantled for a 40-foot High Cube container. The removed conditioning roll, which forms part of the windrower's crop-conditioning system, was secured in the upper right corner so it remained separated from the chassis and other heavy components. A complete Flat Rack move was considered, but containerization saved an estimated $5,000-$6,000. It also supported an intact-container route through a difficult transfer corridor. MSC carried the container to Poti, where it was placed on rail without stripping the cargo. The same sealed load continued to Baku, crossed the Caspian Sea by ferry to Aktau and proceeded by rail to the dealer's base. Meridian remained responsible through final delivery to the dealer. The route took approximately 30 days and was completed without reported delay, damage or handling problem.
