John Deere 980 with Dolly Wheels - 230-Mile Direct Tow
2025 case study: Meridian towed a 1998 John Deere 980 cultivator 230 miles on its own running gear, saving $2,000-$3,000, then packed it for Gdansk.
Meridian found the 1998 cultivator for a Ukrainian dealer and collected it from a seller in Wisconsin. At approximately 16-17 ft wide in transport configuration, the machine was better suited to controlled towing on suitable secondary roads than to a permitted lowboy movement. The cultivator traveled approximately 230 miles to the packing facility on its own running gear. This first-mile method saved an estimated $2,000-$3,000 compared with lowboy transport. Meridian then dismantled the machine, loaded it into a container and coordinated the move through New York to Gdansk. Meridian's responsibility ended in Gdansk. The equipment was later delivered and sold in Ukraine.
